Overview
Type I ecolabels are trustworthy because they are issued by an independent organisation and comply with the ISO 14024 standard. It is important to recognise them among all environmental labels.
The EU ecolabel is type I ecolabel that can be found in both large retail chains and smaller shops. The Swan label and the Blue Angel are other similar type I ecolabels that can be found on the market in Estonia.
In product compliance assessment, the full lifecycle of the product is evaluated to make sure that the impact on the environment is minimal. The EU ecolabel criteria include the composition, effectiveness and packaging of the products.
