The Ministry of Climate supports the transition of companies to the digital age

The Ministry of Climate is helping to ensure that the exchange of data between businesses and the state will be faster and more convenient in the future. The goal is to bring data exchange in line with the principles of the real-time economy – meaning that data will move automatically and faster.

With the new system, companies will be able to offer more automated services, making business operations smoother and more efficient. Solutions are also being sought to reduce companies' existing or additional reporting obligations by automating them or preventing new requirements from being added.

To achieve this, current workflows are being analyzed, bottlenecks are identified, new, more automated processes are developed, and a unified data standard is created. An environment will be established where information moves smoothly and in a machine-readable format between different parties.

For companies that do not wish to or find it impractical to submit machine-readable data directly from software, the option to use a free self-service environment will remain, where necessary data can be submitted conveniently and without additional costs.

What will improve?

  • Companies will have better opportunities for fair and transparent competition and more convenient reporting, saving both time and money. The administrative burden on many companies will be reduced, allowing them to focus more on their core activities.
  • The state will receive up-to-date and high-quality data. This will create an opportunity to leverage the added value of data and make smarter decisions (data-driven governance) that support Estonia’s economic growth, innovation, and competitiveness.
  • Data-driven decisions will help the state respond more quickly and effectively to changes in the economic environment and allocate resources more efficiently where businesses need the most help. High-quality data and its cross-use will also support fair competition and create a reliable, supportive, and growth-oriented business environment.
